As often as woman may complain about having a menstrual cycle, the fact is that it is hard to find a woman who looks forward to menopause. Here are some of the symptoms you should watch out for if one of the women you love is close to the age for going through menopause.
Many women will start to gain more weight when they begin going through menopause. Menopausal weight gain happens in very specific locations. Women experiencing weight gain typically gain the most weight in their waist and thighs. This can cause the womens’ waistline to totally disappear. Weight gain is something that most women do not enjoy. When it happens in this area, however, it can be especially traumatic. If you find that you are gaining weight only in these areas, especially if you don’t typically gain weight here, you might think about seeing your doctor. You might be starting to show signs of menopause.
Many women who are menopausal report that one of the most troublesome symptoms is suddenly not being able to sleep through the night. If you haven’t ever had a problem with sleeping through the night and are suddenly having a hard time staying asleep and you are of a certain age, it is possible that you could be going through menopause. Hot flashes and night sweats often accompany the inability to stay asleep. Other times it isn’t. Many times this symptom gets overlooked as nothing more than trouble sleeping. It is a good idea to have your doctor check out this symptom, especially if you are of a certain age.
A heightened sense of anxiety is fairly common in women who are going through menopause. Anxiety can make a premenopausal woman feel as though the world will never be the same. Do not mistake these sensations as panic attacks, there is a difference. These feelings can be indicative of the fact that your loved one might be going through menopause. Try to offer your support and understanding during this difficult time, she’ll need it.
