Staying in Manchester? Find out What’s Happening in 2010.
Manchester is a great draw to many visitors with its plethora of events all year round. Known for its artistic flare, the city’s arts scene has flourished during the last 10 years and now attracts thousands throughout the year. Here are just two examples of arts events you can enjoy in Manchester’s in 2010.
Ten Years on the the Lowry’s Going Strong!.
Named after famous local painter LS Lowry, and set by the waterside in redeveloped Salford Quays in Greater Manchester, The Lowry is an eye-catching arts centre for the visual and performing arts. A large community project is planned to mark the occasion of its tenth anniversary this year, along with a festival for parents and children in June. From children’s events to Glenn Campbell to international artists to Chekov to Chorus Line, there is something for every taste at The Lowry. Spencer Tunick’s photographs of naked volunteers in eight different locations in Manchester has started the celebrations with gusto! The photos reflect Lowry’s paintings. That sure drew a crowd!
Celebrating Literature in 2010.
And of course, the Manchester Literature Festival opens its doors from 14th – 25th October. Tourists visiting for more than a day will find a great variety of book events taking place around the city. Several famous authors are already booked for this event and the numerous book markets will be an added draw for tourists and locals.
The crowds of visitors generated by so many events require overnight accommodation,
… and for most that will mean a bed and breakfast or hotels. For some people, especially families or larger groups in the know, a popular option is to rent serviced apartments in Manchester. Serviced apartment accommodation lets you make yourself at home after the hustle and bustle of the city.
Which location in Manchester for serviced apartments?
Piccadilly is right at the heart of the action in central Manchester. It offers incredible city scapes and some of the most sumptuous serviced apartments in the city. With the main city train station also in Piccadilly, this part of the city is well placed for traveling to other destinations. Alight from the train, trip across the Curve Bridge, avoiding the heavy traffic, and you arrive at your accommodation. There is little point looking elsewhere!
