Do you have skin moles you would like to get rid of? If so, then you can choose from several different skin mole removal techniques.
Many people have several harmless moles that do not cause them any problems and that do not need to be removed. However, if you have moles that worry you, whether because of their size or the area of your body they are located in, you should look at all the various options before going ahead with the removal.
Of course, it is a subject that should be discussed with a dermatologist because it is their field of expertise and will provide some useful information.
You may have seen creams and other topical products in pharmacies or in online stores, which have been designed for you to removing skin moles at home. Most of these products contain natural ingredients, including plant extracts, herbs and essential oils. Creams often come with an emery board or pumice you should use to scrape the superficial layers of the skin away.
Many people with moles use topical creams and other over-the-counter products because they are much cheaper than visiting a professional dermatologist. However, it is crucial to do some research on the products, such as with reading testimonials and reviews. If possible, you may even want to discuss the matter with your doctor.
Speaking of doctors, there are several medical procedures doctors use to remove moles that you should also know about.
Laser surgery is a popular method for removing moles. Laser lights can only penetrate a certain depth. Big moles or deep moles can be more difficult to remove with laser because the laser technique works better on the superficial skin layers. However, it is important to know that moles can also regrow even after being removed, if they are not properly removed from the skin in their entirety.
Large moles are generally treated by them being cut off with a scalpel. Sometimes doctors use an electric needle to cauterize (burn) the top layers of skin first, then they remove what remains with a scalpel and stitch the area closed.
Cryotherapy is another skin mole removal procedure that is commonly used on smaller moles. Like laser surgery, this method works best on smaller moles because it doesn’t penetrate that deeply into the skin. In cryotherapy a freezing agent is applied on the top of the mole to kill the skin cells. Once the skin cells die the mole will eventually fall off.
